PROCEDURES AND FEES FOR COMMISSIONED PORTRAITS
The portrait procedure begins with an initial consultation to discuss the size and spirit of the
portrait. Clothing, setting, and where the portrait will hang will also be considered.

During the second meeting I will photograph the subject either at my studio or an agreed
upon location. This photo session will explore various poses and expressions and typically
lasts one to two hours.  A two hour sitting where I can paint a study of the model is very
helpful, though not required.

Within a few days the photos will be ready for review by the client. Together we will select
photos that will be used as reference material to create the portrait. The final composition
and size of the painting will be decided. Framing for the portrait may also be discussed at
this time.

The portrait will then be created in my studio.  Depending on the complexity of the
composition and existing schedules, the painting will be completed in three to four months.
After completion, the portrait will be presented to the client.
A 20% discount is given for additional figures whether they are in the same portrait or a
separate portrait and purchased at the same time.   All portraits are painted in
approximately life sized proportion.  Portrait fees are based upon paintings with simple
backgrounds.

A non-refundable deposit of 30% is due at the photo session.  The balance is due when
the portrait is delivered.  Portrait fees do not include framing. There is no sales tax on
portraits because it is considered a "service" rather than a product.
